THE INQUISITIVE
The magnificent smile, on the little ones lips
With hope in their hearts and wings under their feet
Those little fingers and milky teeth
The moment their mother is out of sight,
Absolutely grief stricken and with little dew drops are filled their eyes
They’ll cry and cry till she comes and sits by
As of her, heaven with her baby is what she has already seen
With Blissful Innocence filling their eyes
They would ask her how far away the moon really is?
She’s is busy in hundred and one chores you see
Carelessly she’ll answer very far away dear you can yourself see……..
But how far is the far they would like to know
Because the exact distance to his little sister he wants to show
You cannot go there on foot or car she’ll say…
So why not take an aero plane and reach there? He’ll say…..
She gives him a long look and inwardly smiles……
With love pouring out in every breath she takes
And a tiny tear shinning in her beautiful eyes
She’ll bend down and fill him in her arms
Picking him up and gathering her saree in the same swing……
Pointing towards the moon she gives him a kiss
My Baby!! You’ll learn about rockets, in years to come
It goes to the moon……
Now that he knows the biggest secret of the universe
The shine in his eyes is increased many a times…
Happily he declares he’ll also go to the moon
Because from moon he has come his mother had already let him know!!!
The preparations begin and not a moment is lost
There’s a lot to do and a long list to be prepared
But first of all he must say goodbye
To his father he goes rushing straight away
He is sitting in the garden, and with his darling daughter he’s discussing…..
Why mustn’t one pluck the flowers in the nights?
Why going into the bushes is such a big fright
And here comes our master rolling and tumbling….
Into his dad’s arms he lands safely…….
Unaware of the big plans that are about to come his way!!
Patiently he waits for him to recover
But his little one lets him know without a second’s loss…
That to go to moon he had wanted since he was born
And now that he knows how to reach his fairy land
He has come to say bye bye to his dad……. Mini Khanna
